Couple Unhappy After Pre-Arranged Marriage

Jake Thompson leaned back in the chair talking to his psychologist. He had often asked himself where and why his marriage went wrong. The answer was quite obvious, though he still spent hard-earned money on the shrink.

"Back in college we were very close friends. We had always talked to each other about our own relationship problems. There was one night we just stayed up all night talking on the phone and made the pact. After five years of torture, I really regret it now," said Jake.

The pact was of course that if neither of them were married by the age of 35, they would marry eachother. An agreement that twenty years ago seemed to be a harmless out, had both of them remained single.

In response to their misery, Margaret dismissed their mistake, saying, "I mean it was the 80's, we all did stupid things and said things we didn't mean."
